Kade had another great night. Nurse Becky gave him a bath, changed his linens, and retaped his breathing tube which looked like it may have been pulling on the corner of his mouth a little. She said that the skin looked good underneath, so we are thankful for that.
Kade is still on his "paralytic holiday". There has not been any movement yet, but the doctors explained that the medicines that were keeping him paralyzed have to be expelled through his kidneys and liver. They did give him another diuretic after seeing the results from the last time it was giving. It did wonders again. It seems to be work great for him for about 4 hours and then things go back to normal. The hope is to kick start the kidneys so that they flow normally on their own.
When I got here this morning Kade's color and temp looked great. The plan is to still do the exploratory surgery later today to see how things are doing.
Allison and I were able to get a bite to eat away from the hospital last night. We talked about our wedding vows and how those words ring true. "In Sickness And In Health" While this has been a trying situation for us and has brought us to the edge of emotional breakdown. It has strengthened our bond and brought us closer together.

Dear Troy and Allison,
ReplyDeleteThank you for keeping everyone up-to-date with Kade's progress through your blog. When Steve called to tell me about Kade's initial hospitalization, I was hoping you were at Children's. The care they offer not only for Kade, but the two of you and your daughter, is exceptional. I'm glad to see you are able to get some rest because when Kade returns home, he will be keeping you busy. It seems with children they become ill quickly and recover quickly too. That was my experience with our son, Andrew. He was at Children's several years ago for two weeks with spinal meningitus. When he came home, he was pretty much back to normal. Rest when you can...and yes, boring days are good days.=)
All of you are on our hearts and in our thoughts and prayers. If there is anything at all we can help you with, do not hesitate for a secont to ask.
Chirst's peace,
Diane Steinauer
Troy, Allison Hannah and Kade;
ReplyDeleteYou all are in my thoughts and prayers daily - I think to myself, "a lot of people say that to me - almost as if it is 'good morning', or whatever seems appropriate under the circumstances." I know that Family and Friends really do mean it, though sometimes I get the feeling (about 8%) that it is a placating statement.
I apologize Troy as I have been sending you detailed messages on your E-mail account - please access those if you can. I have been reading Bible passages and talking with God, asking he give you all guidance and strength. I cannot imagine how you both feel as parents, though it makes my heart warm to read about your, both of your faith and trust in God.
No matter how hard, try to get a few smiles and a laugh in each day and TALK about things (see My E on home site). Remember , we LOVE you all!!
